Welcome to Camp Imbalanga
Set in the eastern sector of Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Camp Imbalanga is an eco-lodge that provides a unique and intimate experience for up to eight guests to explore the incredible habitats and wildlife. Its four en-suite bungalows with private verandas are concealed within the forest and surround an attractive and functional main area. The camp restaurant serves a range of meals and snacks, including delicious Congolese-inspired dishes. A fire deck set in and amongst the verdant plant-life is the perfect spot to enjoy a well-deserved sundowner while grey parrots and other birdlife go about their business.
This exceedingly private retreat is solar powered and includes all necessary comforts (and soon-to-be hot showers) and with its locally crafted furniture is an ode to the vibrant Congo culture.
Designed, built and fully operated by Odzala, profits from Imbalanga help support the national park’s conservation initiatives.

Nature walks on Gorilla Trails
Follow trails used by the gorilla habituation team to explore diverse forests, spot wildlife like elephants and monkeys, and learn about local trees, birds, and the habituation process.

Hiding in the Baïs
Observe wildlife and their interactions from strategically placed hides scenically overlooking the nutrient-rich clearings known as “baïs.”

Forest Walks
Embark on a guided forest walk, following ancient elephant pathways, as local guides reveal the secrets of their homeland, unveiling wildlife tracks, micro-organisms, and traditional uses of vegetation. Be prepared to get muddy!

Boating
Boating is the primary mode of transport in Odzala, offering a sense of freedom and exclusivity. Navigate tranquil rivers and lush mangroves, spotting unique wildlife like the West African slender-snouted crocodile.

Baï Camping
Experience the rainforest’s nighttime enchantment with rough camping on the baï platforms or forest floor. Infra-red lights reveal secretive wildlife, while nature’s ambiance sings you to sleep.
Gorilla Trekking in 2025
Led by expert guides, gorilla trekking is an unforgettable experience, as you witness intimate details of the primates’ daily lives. Trekking starts from camp and is done in small groups of up to 4 guests.

- 6 classic en-suite bungalows (option of twin or double beds) with private verandas.
- The electricity system, combining solar power and a backup generator, operates 24 hours a day.
- The camp has 3 rooms with bathrooms equipped with hot water (installation planned soon for the remaining 3 rooms), as well as flush toilets and showers.
- Main area includes a lounge, dining area, fire deck.
- No Wi-Fi or network – take the opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse in forest life.
How to Get There
A 9-hour drive from Brazzaville and a 2-hour drive from Ouesso. Located just 15 minutes from the park’s Eastern Gate. 4×4 recommended in wet season.
